Mother Natures Fury Unfolding

3/14/2020 it was Saturday.   I felt the need to share information on my Facebook pages about my office, and being the voice of calm with following recommendations from the CDC and address some of the questions I was getting in my office.  Standard hygiene for Medical Standard Precautions, extra cleaning efforts in my office between patients, HEPA filter already in place, etc.  At this point, it was still “like a flu” but more aggressive in my mind. 

I had not gotten any information from the MN Nursing Board directly.  I looked at their website and there was simply recommendations to follow the Center for Disease Control and World Health Organization guidelines.  I was proactively monitoring the CDC guidelines, World Health Organization guidelines and paying attention to the governing bodies in Minnesota.  I avoided watching anything from President Trump himself because I don’t trust him and don’t like his approach to most things, and have always felt he was a bully.  In general, I don’t like politics because I have always felt a lack of trust to most in Public Office.  I had plenty of “politicing” when I worked for large corporations in the past. 

Since it was the weekend, I had more time on my hands to watch the news, to scroll through social media and check for the latest and greatest updates.  I was shocked to see some of the projections for the Pandemic.  The virus was spreading rapidly, the numbers of people being infected were skyrocketing.  Italy was on lockdown as a city as their healthcare system was reportedly falling apart at the seams due to the overwhelm.  Too many patients, not enough supplies to treat them.   

In the US, Social Distancing was starting to be talked about.  More cities were starting to show their first cases.  Testing for COVID-19 (the new short term I guess) was starting to become an issue.  People scrambling for testing, drive up locations starting to pop up in areas where the Pandemic was starting to show up in the US.   New York, Wisconsin, California, Washington, Australia, Canada, Florida, Illinois, and more.  There were even a handful of cases in the metro area of Minnesota.  Movie stars and politicians were making the news to report they had the virus, or had been around others later to be found out to be infected. 

If large national events of 250+ have been cancelled, why are all the college kids on Spring Break in Florida gathering in mass crowds on the beaches.  I’m shocked, dismayed, disgusted and thinking…WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!!
